A Guide to Cleaning Sublimation Shirts

One of the most underlooked steps regarding care instructions for sublimation shirts is to wash them correctly. Here are some tips on "how to wash sublimation shirts."

Machine Washing
Machine-wash sublimated shirts in cold water, inside-out, on a gentle cycle with similar colors and mild detergent. When necessary, only use non-chlorine bleach. Do not use fabric softeners and dry-cleaning—Tumble-dry on low and iron with a cool setting.

Handwashing
When washing your sublimation shirts, use cold water and mild detergent. Air-drying in a dry and cool area will also preserve the colors' vibrancy.

Washing Frequency
It is important to note how often you wash your clothes if you wish for your sublimation prints to appear more bright and clear. The more you wash, the sooner the print will fade.

Invert the Shirt's Insides
This will assist in preventing fading of the sublimation design. Flipping the shirt inside out prevents the ink from directly touching the washing machine and detergent.

Avoid Using Bleach
Bleach can destroy sublimation ink and cause fading of the design. Bleach is known to cause discoloration and can remove the color from ink.

How do you care for a sublimated tumbler?

It is critical to take the required precautions to guarantee that your sublimation does not wash out when it comes to retaining the brilliant colors and design of your sublimated tumbler. To do this, you have four sublimation washing instructions to care for a sublimated tumbler.

  1. Ensure you clean the tumbler after each use to prevent dirt or debris from building up and fading the sublimation. A mild soap and water solution is usually sufficient for cleaning most sublimated tumblers. However, suppose your tumbler has been exposed to anything acidic, such as coffee or tea. In that case, you should use a dedicated glass cleaner to prevent staining or fading of the sublimation.

  2. Keep your sublimated tumbler out of extreme heat sources. Excessive heat can cause the dye sublimation to warp, fade, and possibly even wash out. Store your tumbler in a cool, dry place when not in use.

  3. If you must wash your tumbler with dish soap and water, rinse thoroughly afterward. Any residual soap left behind can cause the dye sublimation to wash out.

  4. Avoid using abrasive materials when cleaning a sublimated tumbler, as they may damage the design or fade the colors of the sublimation.

How to care for your bamboo lid

Our products are hand-wash only and not suitable for the dishwasher or microwave. The good news is bamboo is naturally antibacterial and microbial so warm soapy water is all you need.

When washing please be sure to remove the silicone ring when drying so that the product can be dried in full. Much like any other natural product exposed to the elements of water and air over an extended period of time, you do not want to encourage mildew by leaving your products wet or soaked for prolonged periods.

If mildewing occurs, soak in a 1:1 ratio of bleach to water for 4hrs, then wash and air dry fully before next use.
